Folklóritos I* / Weekdays 9:15-10:15 am This is an introductory class which will focus on coordination, balance, and weight shifting skills. Basic children's dances and a brief introduction to Mexican culture and traditions will be taught. Tuition: $130
Folklóritos II* / Weekdays 10:15-11:15 am This beginner class will continue to develop basic dance skills and body awareness. Basic technique and footwork will be introduced in traditional children's dances. Students will receive a brief introduction to the traditions and costumes related to their dances. Tuition: $130
Juvenil I* / Weekdays 11:15 - 12:15 am This intermediate I class will reinforce understanding of basic footwork and technique. The new dances will emphasize continued improvement in footwork and poise. Mexican traditions and costumes for their dances will be explained. Tuition: $130
Juvenil II* / Weekdays 4:00 - 5:00 pm This intermediate II class will introduce skirt movement and more advanced footwork and technique. The dances taught will focus on proper footwork and correct posture. The importance of cultural preservation and the significance of their dances and costumes will be introduced. Tuition: $130
Intermediate Folklórico* / Weekday Evenings This intermediate class will emphasize mastery of basic footwork, poise, and technique. This class will learn the same dances as the advanced class at a slower pace with more time devoted to explanations of the proper footwork. More extensive explanations about Mexican folkloric traditions including music, costumes, and dances will be studied. Tuition: $160
Beginner Adult* / Weekday Evenings This is a face-paced introductory class intended to develop basic dance skills used in traditional dances with a focus on skirt technique and footwork. Details about Mexican folkloric traditions including music, costumes, and dances will be studied. Tuition: $145
Advanced Folkloric* / Weekday Evenings This fast paced class is designed for experienced dancers. In addition to folkloric dance rhythms, footwork, and skirt movement, this class will progress onto more challenging dances, techniques, and choreographies. Continued education about Mexican folkloric traditions will be provided. Tuition: $160
*Folkloric shoes and practice skirt (girls) required. Funds for this activity are provided by the COMPAS Community Art Program through a grant from the McKnight Foundation. |
